The boys annoying habits
>DANNY: Oh God, here we go.
>KYM: Noel torments us. Youll just be sitting down quietly, minding your own business and hell suddenly put his hand in front of your face.
>NOEL: Thats a sign of affection! I feel so close to you that I want to, you know, get close to you.
>MYLEENE: Noel borrows my socks and I never get them back.
>SUZANNE: They do this toy fighting all the time, pretending to hit each other. Youll be sitting in the front of a car and suddenly youll hear these grunting noises and theyre pretending to fight. And theyll do it in the house chuck each others clothes down the stairs, throw mattresses off their beds, make loud noises in the middle of the night.

The girls annoying habits
>MYLEENE: Oi! Easy!
>NOEL: We havent got enough time. OK. Myleene bursts into song all the time.
>DANNY: Well be sitting there all quiet and then Myleene suddenly goes Ba-by when the lights go out" from nowhere. And its not an annoying habit but shes just obsessed with chocolate.
>MYLEENE: Everyones obsessed by this fitness regime thing but its just rubbish we eat the same stuff as we always did.
>DANNY: Kym used to have smelly feet but theyre not so smelly now.
>KYM: I never used to wear any socks with my trainers but I do now. One of the house rules is Kym wears socks

Culinary specialties
>ALL OF THEM (except Noel): Noel!
>KYM: None of us have had a chance to do anything noel wont let us in the kitchen.
>NOEL: Whats my specialty? Mashed potato. Not just mashed potato but, you know, things involving mashed potato. Shepherds pie. I can do things with peppers too. I love cooking. Its my way of chilling out.

Darius
(Myleene and Kym clap their hands together in a Darius style)
>MYLEENE: Hit me baby one more
>KYM: time. Weve heard mixed things about him. Sometimes we hear hes been slagging us off, sometimes we hear hes being nice about us. I dunno.
>SUZANNE: I think he is a very talented guy but he tried too hard. He tried to be everyones friend and you cant be everyones friend.
>DANNY: He was the right talent at the wrong audition. Hes such a solo artist, such a strong character, he wouldnt have fitted into a group.
>SUZANNE: When we were all in tears that day it wasnt about Darius, it was about what wed all been going through. We were losing friends every day. Darius just happened to be there and sang a song that was really emotional.
>KYM: It was like a cult! I hardly ever cry at anything, unless its something really important or close to me.
>DANNY: It was a therapy session.

The house
>NOEL: We were put in a house together, sealed off from the outside world and that whole time was kind of surreal. The way we bonded was really special we had to build up a strong friendship.
>KYM: I missed my children so much. That was one of the worst times for me, but at least I got to speak to them. Once I couldnt see them for four weeks. At the end of the day Im doing all this for them, anyway. But it was really hard. Id go and see them some times just to spend a few hours with them. I can live with them again from March; us lot are living together until then.
>MYLEENE: It was great, initially, to be there in this amazing, amazing house. But you cant share the good times with the people whove helped put you there your family and friends. Theyll ask you questions on the phone and be really excited for you but youre not allowed to tell them anything.

Party tricks
>KYM: Do your party trick, Noel!
(Noel does a horrific thing where he twists his eyelid and his eyeball appears to pop out. Hes taught it to Danny too, who also does it.)
>THE GIRLS: Urrrrgh!
>KYM: Weve seen that a million times and it still freaks us out. Do your party trick, Danny
>MYLEENE: Yeah, scat for us baby!
>DANNY: Yah ba-by doo be deeeeeeh. Thats not very good.
>KYM: Do yours, Suzanne
>SUZANNE: My Bart Simpson? (Does a spookily perfect Bart) Yo whats happening, dude? Youre a guy with a rep for being rude.
>MYLEENE: Ive got bendy arms. (The boys break into applause upon hearing this.)
>KYM: This is horrid.
>MYLEENE: Look! (Myleene grins as she holds her arms outstretched and bends them over so theyre upside down and freaky-looking.)
>NOEL: Urrggh! (The group burst into applause.)


Enforced celibacy
>KYM: We didnt have that.
>MYLEENE: God, no not at all.
>NOEL: Myleene youre making it sound like were all at it with each other.
>SUZANNE: Those who have boyfriends or girlfriends can still go and see them anddo what boys and girls do. Pre-Christmas no one was allowed in the house I mean, our parents didnt even know where we lived. Now they can. God, before Christmas if anyone even rang the doorbell wed run away screaming.

Confessions
>NOEL: Kym wins this one.
>KYM: My biggest confession was when I told Nigel I had kids. Id already told the rest of the house a few days before because we sat down one evening when the cameras werent there and decided to tell each other stuff. We just had a policy of total honesty What do you want to say, what are you scared about? When it was my turn I just reached into my handbag, pulled out some pictures of my kids, put them on the carpet and said Theyre mine
>NOEL: And we were like Woah!
>KYM: and I couldnt have wished for a better response. They were so supportive and I just cried and cried. I didnt keep this secret because I was in some sort of denial about having my children, as some people have said. It was just that I had been turned down for so many jobs because of it. I thought I might get kicked out of this. I was scared.
>NOEL: But we all said we were there for her and we would leave too if she did.
>KYM: its not as though Ive killed anyone all Im trying to do is give my kids a good life. Apart from that theres no confessions
>MYLEENE: except that I used to be a man. (laughs)

The groups name
>NOEL: Dont go there!
>KYM: Weve had so many arguments about the name, because theres a certain name we want to call ourselves. We will get our way.

Suzannes hair extensions
>NOEL: Well I like them.
>KYM: I think they really suit her.
>NOEL: Theyre great. Im going to plait some bin liners into them.
>DANNY: When I first saw them I was absolutely shocked. I walked into this room and saw this long blonde hair.
>SUZANNE: Unfortunately, the first the world saw of them was at the press conference and I was having a really bad hair day. In the early days of having these extensions theyre very high maintenance its not like real hair; its totally impossible to control. Now Ive got different ones and theyre shorter. It was my idea I suggested them.

Watching yourself on TV
>NOEL: It doesnt make sense to us yet were just the guys who walked into that audition.
>SUZANNE: When we landed at Heathrow for the press conference, loads of people went Its them, its them! No its just us.
>NOEL: People say to me Congratulations! and I go Who are you? I meet people and I say Hi, Im Noel and they go Yeah, I know.
>MYLEENE: Seeing your face on the ten oclock news and having Trevor McDonald talk about you whats that all about? Heathrow was very surreal. Its a very busy airport and everyone juststopped.
>DANNY: And this little kid walked out in front of us, pointed and said Mummy its the Popstars.

When I heard Id won
I had tried to clear my head beforehand so that whatever happened wouldnt be too much of a shock. But it still was! I was so ecstatic.
What goes through your mind as youre walking up to the judges to hear their decision?
On TV, you dont see how long it is and all sorts of strange things go through your mind. You even worry about your shoes squeaking!
Were you hurt by any of the judges criticisms?
I was a bit upset when they said I was always late because that wasnt entirely true. I know they just said that for the TV. I am really professional about my job even though I hate getting up in the morning.
Whats life like in the Popstars house?
Everyone piles into each others rooms. We make dinner together and watch videos. Noel is a top chef, Suzy has a grasp of the laundry thing and I clean the surfaces.

Bar and restaurant work, puppeteer in Ibiza, singing with a male voice choir.

When I heard Id won
I thought, Are they having a laugh? The week before I was so tense. You dont think youre going to go from being among 3000 hopefuls down to the last five, especially when there are so many talented people with you.

Have you been recognised yet?
Yes, when we were walking through the airport today a few people were saying Hi!, Congratulations! and Well done. We hadnt all been out together before so it was weird.

Whats been the most emotional moment so far?
When I rang my mum at the end of the London week. Id seen everyone crying and Id fought back the tears but itd been such a tiring week that it all came out when I spoke to her.

What do you think of Darius?
Hes very determined and he knows exactly what he wants. When it sounds like hes being arrogant, hes being confident. Its a fine line.

Previous jobs:
I did loads of singing growing up I had a single, One Kiss, out when I was 13. I was a hotel receptionist and I worked in a clothes shop for a while, but that didnt suit me.

When I heard Id won
It didnt sink in at all. I didnt have a clue what was going on. I thought I would have cried but there were no tears left.

Whats been the most emotional moment so far?
When I had to leave my two kids theyre 3 and 5. Part of the deal was that you had to move ---into the house together for three months, so my mum has them and their father looks after them three times a week. I ring them every morning and night.

Is Nigel really nasty?
Noooooo! He just says what everyone else thinks. If he was boring and went That was very good. See you soon, it wouldnt be interesting TV.

Is there anyone else you think should have made it?
Warren and Raymond had two of the best voices Ive ever heard.

Just odd jobs, and Id been to a few auditions.

When I heard Id won
I couldnt believe it. I said to Nicki, I didnt think I could do it. I thought Id just take all the experience Id had and use it at the next audition.

With my first pay cheque
Ill treat my nan and granddad because theyve been so good to me.

Whats been the most emotional moment so far?
I didnt realise how tearful I was until I watched myself on TV. My confidence was low and I didnt think I was going to make it.

Were you hurt by any of the judges criticisms?
Paul said that when I walk into the room it looks like Im going to start a fight. I didnt know that! But he did say that when I start smiling it all changes.

What do you think of Darius?
Hes really talented but I see him as a solo artist. I thought he was older than he said he was, he seems like hes had years of experience.

SUZANNE

Previous jobs:
I was in an ABBA tribute band and did a bit of acting too. I did Holby City, a childrens programme and a few commercials.

When I heard Id won
I was just thinking about the music and the fame and how I was going to cope. Until I walked through that airport I had no idea how big the whole thing had got.

Have you been recognised yet?
Yes, this morning at the airport. This little girl was like Mummy, its the Popstars. I was so chuffed. I wanted to grab hold of her and give her a hug!

Whats been the most emotional moment so far?
Watching the show where we were told if we were in or not. It was such a happy time for us but so sad for the others. I know theyre going to do well Im expecting a chart battle.

Whats life like in the Popstars house?
Its wicked, weve all got different personalities, but we dont clash. If theres an issue, we sit down and discuss it. There hasnt been an argument yet.
