Noel used to get name-called at school, and there was a bit of bullying, but he just thouhgt it was what everyone got. "it didn't affect me," he recalls. "It depends on how big a deal you make of it. I could brush it off and walk away. I think I always knew I was going to do something good later on and all those people who took the mick are still working in the local supermarket, still doing the same things, hanging round with the same people. They haven't moved on and I have. It wasn't like I had a grand plan or anything, but I never felt I could hold down a nine-to-five job."
"My mum absolutely treasured me because I was the only one.I never felt I wanted for anything and had to go without, to get me the latest bike, or whatever. I don't know how she managed it, but you just do, don't you? If you're a survivor, you survive. We've always had a cast-iron relationship. We do argue, like any mother and son, but the foundation is strong. When I was younger, I never gave her any cause for concern. I wasn't off nicking cars or anything. I could have hung around with the wrong crowd, but I didn't. I didn't want to get stuck." Says Noel.

Date of Birth: 28th July 1980.
Noel was born in Cardiff, Wales and travelled a lot as a child.
Education: He got eight GCSE's (well done Noel!!), and has been to a few different schools including one he hated, and left.
Family History: He has a great relationship with his mum, Claire, and his Dad left when he was a child. He has a nan , "Meme", who was French and had a lot of influence on his music. He has a brother and sister which sadly are not around to see his fame. His brother was a cot death victim and his sister died from a brain tumour at nine days old.
First Professional Role: Noel has had many jobs, including working as a waiter, fish monger, pupeteer, and singing in a Welsh male voice choir.
